Takeaway Business Finance Made Simple

Takeaway business finance can help pay for a defined purchase or improvement, from replacing a fryer to fitting out another kitchen. It can also bridge a short-term cash gap, provided the business can meet the added commitment.

Before choosing a product, separate sales from cash received. In-store card payments, orders through your website and delivery-platform settlements may follow different payment arrangements. Use statements showing what reaches your account after charges and refunds.

PDQ Funding helps takeaway operators explore business loans and merchant cash advances. Tell us the amount needed, the purpose and how customers pay so we can explain the next steps.

Before choosing a repayment structure, compare merchant cash advances versus business loans and review merchant cash advance costs.

What could takeaway funding cover?

  • Kitchen equipment: fryers, ovens, refrigeration, extraction or dishwashers, including installation and servicing.
  • Refurbishment: a collection counter, food preparation area, signage or improvements to existing premises.
  • Ordering systems: website ordering, till integration or equipment that helps manage orders.
  • Working capital: a defined gap in ingredient, packaging, staffing or supplier costs.

Obtain supplier quotations and include any closure during the work. A second site needs its own forecast, allowing for recruitment, training and the time required to establish demand.

Compare a business loan with a cash advance

Takeaway business loans

A business loan provides an agreed sum repaid over a set term, with interest and any charges. A scheduled payment can help you plan a refurbishment or equipment purchase, but remains due when orders are quieter.

Compare the payment frequency, interest basis, total repayable and early settlement terms. For an individual piece of equipment, it may also be worth comparing buying outright with a suitable equipment finance quotation.

Merchant cash advances

A merchant cash advance provides upfront funding with collections tied to qualifying card sales. Under an agreed percentage arrangement, the collection can increase or decrease as those receipts change.

Confirm exactly which payments qualify. Receiving a bank settlement from a delivery platform does not automatically mean it can support the proposed advance. Ask about processor compatibility, minimum payment conditions and what happens during a closure.

Calculate the cost against your actual margin

Compare the money received with the total payable, including charges. For a cash advance, the collection percentage and funding fee are different figures. For a loan, check whether interest and repayments are fixed or variable.

Use your own figures for ingredients, packaging, delivery commissions, staff, rent and utilities. Test a quiet week as well as a busy one, including the deductions from existing finance. High order volumes alone do not establish affordability.

An unsecured facility may still require a personal guarantee. Understand any personal liability and security before signing, and consider independent advice. Adding borrowing to an ongoing trading loss needs particular care.

Eligibility and information to prepare

Providers review the business’s trading history, receipts, financial position, credit information and existing commitments. Requirements vary; there is no universal trading period, card-sales threshold or guaranteed acceptance rate.

  • Recent business bank statements and accounts.
  • Merchant statements and an explanation of online and platform receipts.
  • Balances and repayments for existing finance.
  • Supplier quotations and a budget for the proposed use.

Ask which credit checks are needed before progressing. Explain a new site, change of ownership or unusual trading period so the assessment uses the correct information.

Your questions answered

A business that has not started trading cannot provide an established card-sales history. Start-up funding involves a different assessment. You can explore the government-backed Start Up Loans programme directly and review its eligibility and personal repayment obligations.

Tell us which platforms you use and provide settlement information. The provider must confirm whether the receipts qualify for its product. Using a platform does not guarantee eligibility or create an entitlement to cashback.

The amount depends on trading figures, existing commitments, affordability and the provider’s criteria. Request the amount supported by your budget rather than assuming a fixed multiple of monthly sales.

PDQ Funding does not charge you for using its brokerage service. We receive commission from a lender following a successful introduction. The provider’s interest, funding fee and other charges are separate.

There is no obligation to accept an offer. Funding and payment times depend on assessment and documentation, so do not commit to a supplier deadline before funds are confirmed.
